1.Macy's
Macy's is not only the most popular of all New York's department stores but the largest of all the department stores in the world as well. It is known for its wide selection of furnishings, footwear, clothing, sheets, kitchenware, jewelry, beauty products plus cafes and hair salons. A must-do New York City experience Location: Midtown West 2.Bloomingdale's Bloomingdale's, known for its slogan ''Like no other store in the world'', is a massive department store with top designer shoes and clothing as well as jewelry, cosmetics and accessories. It is second after Macy's as far as the popularity with New York City visitors is concerned. Location: Upper East Side 3.Saks Fifth Ave Saks is a flagship department store with upscale women's and men's clothing, including Prada, Gucci and other top designers. One can also get handbags, furniture, jewelry, beauty products and housewares here. Its January sale is the New York City draw! Location: Midtown East 4.Bergdorf Goodman Bergdorf Goodman is a legendary luxury goods department store offering high-end women's clothing designed by Dolce&Gabana, Eli Tahari, Emilio Pucci, amongst others. You will also find men's clothing, houseware, shoes, jewelry, etc. here. The Susan Ciminelli Spa is also worth visiting. Location: Midtown East 5.Henri Bendel Henri Bendel, a cosy high-end department store, is aimed at women fond of stylish though curious clothing designed by both emerging and well known designers. Lingerie, loungewear, fashion accessories and cosmetics are also on offer. Location: Midtown East 6.H&M H&M, is a chain of six Swedish discount clothing stores, which offers lovely and good quality (and not costly) women's, men's and kids' clothing collections. Popular with New Yorkers since its opening at Fifth Avenue in 2000. It is based at Herald Square with branches at 51st Street and 640 Fifth Avenue, 558 Broadway. 7.Takashimaya The five-store Takashimaya is the Japanese-owned department store where one can find classy clothing, homeware, furniture, and other products which, though costly, are known for their original design. The basement Tea Box Cafe is worth visiting! Location: Midtown East 8.Barneys Barneys, situated at 660 Madison Avenue, is most famous for its best designer clothing selection of all Manhattan's department stores. Hence, it attracts all New York's hipsters. A must to all lovers of Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Paul Smith and Miu Miu fashion lines! Location: Upper East Side 9.Pearl River Mart Pearl River Mart is the most popular Chinese department store in SoHo. It offers a rich variety of Asian ware, including Chinese and Japanese clothing, paper lanterns, teapots, teas, spices, musical instruments. A must-do New York City experience to Asia lovers! Location: 477 Broadway, SoHo 10.Lord&Taylor Lord&Taylor is a 10-story department store with a wide selection of clothes for men, women, kids as well as shoes, handbags, jewelry, accessories, beauty products, including top designer clothing lines (Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, etc.).
