1.Carnegie Hall Carnegie Hall, named after its founder Andrew Carnegie, is one of the most famous concert venues in the United States. Erected in 1890, the concert hall is renowned for its impeccable acoustics, architectural beauty and magnificent artistic programme. Carnegie Hall, specializing in classical and popular music, has featured top-notch musicians. 2.Metropolitan Opera House
Metropolitan Opera House, situated at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, is considered to be one of major opera stages in the world. Metropolitan Opera House, called Met for short, is home to the Metropolitan Opera. Each week the Met, with its seating capacity exceeding 3,800, presents as many as 7 performances of 4-5 different productions, which makes about 240 opera performances per year. It is also known for its live broadcasts. Apart from grand opera stagings, the Met hosts the spring season of Americal Ballet Theater every year.
3.Avery Fisher Hall
Avery Fisher Hall, part of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, is the seat to the New York Philharmonic, the oldest symphonic orchestra of the United States. Originally called Philharmonic Hall, it was renamed after Avery Fisher, a member of the philharmonic directors' board, who donated over 10 million dollars to the New York Philharmonic. Currently, the Avery Fisher Hall host both musical and non-musical events on a regular basis.
4.New York State Theater
The New York State Theater, situated in the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, is home to New York City Opera, competing with Metropolitan Opera, and New York City Ballet. Its seating capacity is over 2,700. The New York City Opera specializes in the presentation of established and new American Opera composers. Non-traditional operatic repertoire is also on offer. Recently, there has been revival in the works of Baroque masters like Gluck, Handel, Rameau, etc. New York City Ballet is the major ballet stage in the United States. Over 60 ballet performances are shown in spring and winter. Moreover, since its establishment in 1964, such famous ballet artists have performed here as Diana Adams, Kyra Nichols, Eward Villella, Mikhail Baryshnikov, etc.
5.City Center Theater City Center Theater, frequently referred to as City Center of Music and Drama or New York City Center 55th Street Theater, is a concert venue for dance performances, great American musical productions and ''Fall for Dance Festival'' performances. It is here that one can see top dance companies perform and watch the stagings of the revived Broadway musicals.
6.Joyce Theater
Joyce Theater is a 472-seat venue for dance performances. It is here that one can watch mid-size and small modern dance companies from all over the world perform all year round. There are also meetings of the artists with the audience following Wednesday evening performances. The annual audience exceeds 140,000.
7.Radio City Music Hall
Radio City Music Hall, situated in Rockefeller Center, is a popular entertainment venue. It is often referred to as the Showplace of the Nation. Radio City Music Hall boasts its Great Stage, bearing resemblance to the setting sun, and its Mighty Wurlitzer, the largest theater pipe organ (built for a movie theater). What makes the Music Hall famous is the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, a traditional Christmas show held since 1933, which is the most-watched live show in the United States. Moreover, it is also renowned for the Rockettes, a precision dance company. Concerts and special events like major awards ceremonies, sports events etc. are held on a regular basis here. 8.Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)
The Brooklyn Academy of Music is a well-known center specializing in the progressive and avant garde performances. It is renowned for hosting the annual Next Wave Festival which attracts fans from all over the world with avant garde music, dance and theatre. Every Memorial Day the ''Dance Africa'' is held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music during which one can watch dance shows of groups from all over the world.
9.Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden, frequently referred to as the Garden, consists of as many as four arenas which are not only used for showcasing popular music events but also as homes to two world famous sports teams: a basketball team of New York Knicks and a hockey team of New York Rangers. It is a renowned venue for as many as 320 events per year, including basketball matches, hockey, wrestling championships, tennis tournaments, meetings, conferences, party conventions. Another attraction attracting crowds is the New Year's Eve concerts with the on-road matches of the Rangers and the Knicks.
