1.Gagosian Gallery

The Gagosian Gallery, a contemporary art gallery, has as many as four locations in the United States, two in London, UK and one in Rome, Italy. It is named after its proprietor Larry Gagosian. In New York one can see the top artists' works at 980 Madison Avenue and at 555 West 24th Street, Chelsea. The exhibited artists are the ''big names'' of contemporary art like Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Mike Kelly, Franz West, Nan Goldin, amongst others.

2.Marlborough Gallery

The Marlborough Gallery has been the world's recognized contemporary art dealer since 1946. In New York there are two locations where works of art by seminal artists can be seen. Namely, one gallery is located in Midtown (40 West 57 Street) and the other one in Chelsea (211 West 19th Street). In the former contemporary sculpture works by Magdalena Abakanowicz, R.B. Kitaj, Claudio Bravo are exhibited, whereas the latter specializes both in contemporary sculpture and painting.

3. Mary Boone
The Mary Boone Gallery, first opened in 1977, was seated in Soho. However, in the 1990s it moved uptown to Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Since 2000, an additional space was opened in Chelsea. The Mary Boone Gallery presents both established artists, such as Jacob Hashimoto, Jay Davis, Luis Gispert, and the upcoming generation of artists. Thanks to a large exhibition space, dramatic installations and large-scale works of art can be seen here.

4. Pace Wildenstein Gallery
The Pace Wildenstein Gallery is a prestigious chain of art galleries with branches at 57th Street, West 25th Street and West 22nd Street in Chelsea. Since its opening in 1960, the Pace Wildenstein Gallery has held approximately half a thousand exhibitions. Currently, it specializes in presenting the works of great artists of the twentieth century and of today. One can see such seminal artists as Mark Rothko, Pablo Picasso, Chuck Close, etc. The gallery at 57st Street mainly exhibits large-scale works of art and installations, whereas the Chelsea-seated gallery concentrates on painting, sculpture, photography and graphics.

5. Paul Kasmin Gallery
The Paul Kasmin Gallery, following the long family tradition, promotes the works of upcoming young artists by holding the collective exhibitions of their works. Established artists in the fields of sculpture, graphics and photography also have their art works displayed during regularly held individual exhibitions. Since 1999, the Paul Kasmin Gallery, has been located at 293 10th Avenue at 27th Street, Chelsea.

6. Dia Center for the Arts
Dia Center for the Arts, as the gallery name suggests (Dia meaning ''through'' in Greek), specializes in the realization of extraordinary projects, especially those which need a large exhibition space. The venue is home to both permanent exhibitions of works, from the 1960s till the present times, and long-term single-artist site-specific projects.
Opening hours: Wednesday – Sunday 12 a.m. - 6 p.m.

7. Drawing Center
Drawing Center, located at 35 Wooster Street in SoHo, specializes in the presentation of drawings, both made by masters and less known artists. It is the only non-profit institution in the USA which has been interested in the drawing as a work of art, shown in a variety of styles, since its opening in 1977. Monthly ''Line Readings'' are held here.
Opening hours: Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. closed in August

8. Marian Goodman Gallery
The Marian Goodman Gallery has been engaged in the presentation of European artists since its opening in 1977. Thanks to showcasing the works from Europe on its 8,000 square-foot exhibition space, the American audience can familiarize themselves with artistic trends in that part of the globe. The gallery is one of the most influential dealers of contemporary art in New York City.
